The Government of Canada invests in small craft harbours (SCH)
The Government of Canada is investing $106 million in maintenance, construction, repair and dredging projects at small craft harbours across Canada. This amount includes regular program funding in 2014-15 and an additional $40 million over two years from Economic Action Plan 2014.
Projects at small craft harbours help create jobs and stimulate economic growth in Canada’s communities. These harbours contribute to local economies by providing safe and accessible facilities for commercial fisheries. They support nearly 90% of all fish landings in Canada, which are valued at approximately $1.6 billion per year.
